Nat stir fried up this simple number tonight. I go nuts for it because it uses oyster sauce which is DELICIOUS. That's how people make delicious stir fry.

Nat's steak and mushrooms

Nat made delicious steak tonight with sauteed mushrooms and shallots, fresh/parbaked sour dour and rice as sides. We ate it like an open sandwich, topping the bread with the mushrooms/shallots, then the steak and then mustard. It was really good! Nat sure is good at cooking his steak, I'll tell ya. (With brocolli and carrots also not pictured)

Camera = found. It's embarrassing where it was.

We used to eat pork chops all the time. It was the first meal Nat cooked for me. We haven't had it for AGES because Nat advises me it got real expensive there for a while there. So tonight's dinner was a real treat.

Pork chops with crackling, rice and roast tomatoes.
Midnight Spaghetti 4

We had the same old midnight spaghetti tonight. But I've included photos from over Christmas when my siblings and I and our families all gathered at my parents place. This is what midnight spaghetti for 19 people looks like.
Tim (brother-in-law) is stirring the enormous pasta pot. Nat is stirring the shrimp in the frypan. We had to tip the shrimp/shallots into the pasta pot because I don't think there is a frypan in the world that could hold all the pasta we needed.
A frypan full of shrimp and deep with oil. At this point we didn't know if we had the increased amounts of everything right. How often do you multiply your recipes by 10?

I'm signing off for Christmas. If you're lucky I'll back post with photos of Christmas dinner and any other memorable meals. But otherwise I'll be posting everyday dinners again in January.
Merry Christmas!
Silverside

Tonight was my first time ever making a Silverside. And actually I ran out of time to prepare it and then went out for the afternoon, so Nat made it, but I put the veges in and drained then served it all up on plates so it kind of feels like it counts.

Creamy Bacon Spaghetti

Nat cooked dinner tonight. It was delicious. He told me that "Creamy Bacon Spaghetti" should be what I call what he made. It was really good.

Nat's recipe:
2 slices rindless middle bacon
2 Tbsp olive oil
a squeeze of lemon juice
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 shallots, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
a knob of butter
1 tomato
handful of fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup cream
a few grinds lemon pepper
Put water on to boil.
Cook chopped bacon in a pan with first measure of oil and lemon. Remove from pan when crisp and drain on absorbent paper.
Add salt to boiling water. Put your spaghetti in to cook.
In the bacon pan heat second measure of olive oil. Add salt. Cook chopped shallots and chopped garlic. Add butter and let melt. Add chopped fresh tomato and crush with a wooden spoon. Add basil and let cook. Put bacon back in the pan. Add cream and lemon pepper. Cook for a couple minutes.
Add cooked spaghetti and more fresh basil to pan and stir to coat.
This doesn't need any parmesan cheese when served because it is sooo delish! I tried some on it but I didn't think it improved it at all.
Terakihi fillets with fried potatoes

Or "fish and chips" if you like. Nat made perfectly crusted terakihi with delicious and also perfect fried potatoes for dinner tonight. And fried basil. And carrots as the token vegetable.
Lamb ribs

Nat made dinner tonight. He made lamb ribs, potato dauphinois, roast tomatoes and broccoli (not pictured). Although Nat seasoned the ribs deliciously, I wouldn't recommend getting lamb ribs because they are just too fatty. As in, there is more fat than meat. Also, potato dauphinois is like Nat's pet at the moment. Delicious.
